Interactive Fairytale Theater for Kindergarten-age Kids
What is a nook? It is a warm hiding place where you can huddle down to conquer remote adventures of the imagination. A hole that harbors many secrets. The dwellers of Nookville — none other than The Symptoms, joined forces by a handful of first-rate jazz musicians — enlist the help of children to track down a lost princess and to scatter the wraiths of the night. On their journey, the little adventurers encounter such creatures as a one-eyed giant, a rusty robot, and the purple ant-eater. As they are drawn into the play, the dance, and the music, they become fairy tale heroes and heroines in their own right. In the course of their magical passage, which lasts from morning to the following morning according to Nookville Time, the kids’ own voices, bodies, and movements become the prime mover of the story, of the music, and even of the actors themselves. All the while, the kids remain free to play and move around, discovering the limitlessness of their skills.
The amalgam of a theater play and a creative event session with lots of movement and music, Nook is recommended for children aged 3 to 7.
“Because Nookville is real good. It is so good, in fact, that I have decided to buy tickets for all the shows remaining on the bill for the year. That means three more performances, so I’d better get my act together! (...) Transcending the style and ethos of traditional Hungarian children’s plays, it is a professional performance that never fails to steer clear of the pitfalls of tedium and affectation.” (Judit Kuszkó – Index – Dívány.hu)
“The joy of joint action and spending time together sets the mood for the whole performance. Indeed, Nookville gives us a fair share of the warmth from an intimate nook — something that all families, kindergartens, and even elementary schools should be able to provide and experience.” (Zsuzsa Szilágyi, Revizor)
